26-27 January 2009, Final Conference in Brussels, Belgium
The CAST final conference was organised in Brussels on 26 and 27 January by BIVV. The main goal was to present publicly the manual and all the other final CAST results with the presence of the European Commission, European organisations in the area, campaign makers, decision makers, advertising agencies, researchers…. In total 135 persons from inside and outside Europe attended this conference.
2 December 2008, Steering Committee meet in Schiphol, the Netherlands
In order to finalise the organisation and the programme of the final conference another Steering Committee meeting was planned in December 2008. Furthermore it became again clear that most CAST deliverables would be only finalised at the end of the CAST project. As a result the full dissemination activities will only start after the CAST final conference in January 2009. Therefore the Steering Committee decided to organise an email voting on the request for a project prolongation of 6 months.
1-2 October 2008, WP2 meeting in Oslo, Norway
Based on the comments received during both CAST workshops in Warsaw and Stockholm, WP 2 partners discussed the elements/parts/texts to be changed accordingly during this 2 days meeting. On Thursday afternoon, the remaining tasks were divided and a time schedule was set up.
1 October 2008, WP4 meeting in Oslo, Norway
During this half day meeting of the WP4 partners, the further data analysis of their evaluation studies and the planning was discussed in detail. The report for WP2 will be prepared by the end of October 2008.
30 September 2008 – CAST consortium meeting in Oslo, Norway
This meeting was the second occasion where all CAST partners could meet each other. This second CAST Plenary Meeting was realised in Oslo and was hosted by TØI. This assembly provided the opportunity to discuss all the current results and to fine-tune the outputs of the different WP’s. After this meeting, the consortium discussed further collaboration during a fantastic dinner in a lighthouse.
29 September 2008 – Steering Committee meet in Oslo, Norway
On Monday 29 September 2008 a SC meeting was held in Oslo at the premises of TØI. The meeting started with the presentations of the work progress in the different Work Packages. The finalisation of the WP tasks was discussed profoundly. At the end of the day the content and the planning of the next plenary meeting was talked through.
13 June 2008 – CAST Workshop in Stockholm, Sweden
The main goal of this second workshop was to get input, share experiences and discuss the topic on how to design, implement and evaluate effective road safety campaigns. Therefore we invited some campaign experts (researchers and practitioners) to Stockholm for the technical discussion of the interim results of CAST. 30 May 2008 – CAST Workshop in Warsaw, Poland
The main goal of this first workshop was to get input, share experiences and discuss the topic on how to design, implement and evaluate effective road safety campaigns. Therefore we invited some campaign experts (researchers and practitioners) to Warsaw for a technical discussion of the interim results of CAST. 29 May 2008 – Steering Committee meet in Warsaw, Poland
In the morning the status of the different Work Packages was discussed. Most groups are on schedule regarding their work tasks. After lunchtime, the members of the Steering Committee prepared the future workshops. The Quality Officer foresaw some reactions/comments and it was discussed how it should be dealt with.
19 February 2008 – WP5 meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
This second meeting of WP5 has been held to talk about the practical details. The meeting opened with a discussion regarding the general campaign theme “driver vigilance”. The availability of data has been checked and the further steps (according to the WP3 manual) were planned within the limited timeframe of WP5.
18 February 2008 – SC meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
On Monday 18 February a Steering Committee meeting was held in Brussels, Belgium on the premises of IBSR. After a state of the art of every Work Package, the content and the practical organisation of the CAST workshops have been discussed in detail.
18 December 2007 – WP4 meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
During this meeting in Brussels, WP4 partners discussed the standardised questionnaire that they will use to evaluate their campaigns. Every WP4 partner will do their own analysis with the standard approach. Furthermore a detailed timetable and tasks was drafted.
17 December 2007 – WP5 meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
WP5 held a Kick-Off meeting in Brussels to discuss the procedure as written in the manual, timing issues and possible themes for campaigns. These campaigns will be held in 4 countries namely Belgium, Greece, Portugal and Denmark.
10-14 December 2007 – WP3 meeting in Paris, France.
WP3 organised a 4-day meeting at INRETS in December 2007. The meeting started on Monday afternoon with a recall of the working method and the rules of authorship of the manual. After that every section of every chapter was presented by the respective coordinator and commented by all WP3 partners. The last day of this fruitful meeting ended with agreements regarding the layout of the manual, the further planning and working method.
12-13 November 2007 – SC meeting in Leidschendam, The Netherlands.
The last Steering Committee meeting of 2007 was a lunch to lunch meeting. This assembly contained several themes of discussion: an approval of the amendment procedure and content, an overview of the progress of several WP’s and a discussion about the organisation of the Workshops in 2008.
5-6 November 2007 – WP1 meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
The first part of the meeting was contributed to the status of WP1. What has been done until now and what work has to be done? Several partner contributions were discussed especially the theoretical work from DTF on emotions and the frequent use of fear appeals in European campaigns. This was the last WP1 meeting. The next contributions, discussions, comments and adaptations will be exchanged by email.
28 September 2007 – WP4 meeting in Stockholm, Sweden.
This first WP4 meeting was arranged to define the working plan for the following months. All WP4 partners looked for appropriate campaigns which could be used when assessing the evaluation tool from WP2. After this meeting, WP4 searched for contributions to develop the WP4 questionnaire.
2 - 3 July 2007 – WP2 meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark
This was for WP2 a very important meeting as the results of the external review of Deliverable 2.1 and D2.2 were announced. These comments were discussed and solutions were found on how to deal with them. The other meeting day was completely devoted to an in-depth revision of the content and a complete restructuring of the text of Deliverable 2.3 (the future evaluation tool). This was temporarily the last meeting of WP2. The work will be continued in autumn 2008.
21 June 2007 – Steering Committee meeting in Stockholm, Sweden.
On Thursday morning the CAST Steering Committee started their meeting with a further discussion of the (future) CAST contract amendment and the presentation of the first print of the CAST poster and leaflet. Afterwards, a new work definition of media campaigns was discussed on general request. In the afternoon every WP leader expounded the state of affairs of their WP.
17 April 2007 – CAST consortium meeting in Vienna, Austria
Once a year there will be an occasion where all partners meet together even if they are not working together. The first CAST Plenary Meeting is realised in Vienna and is hosted by FACTUM. This assembly provides a unique opportunity to discuss midterm results and reconfirm the good cooperation among the entire CAST consortium. After this meeting everybody has been updated on the project’s progress.
16 April 2007 – WP3 meeting in Vienna, Austria
On this meeting all WP3 partners were present except for PRP. The layout, milestones, time schedule was discussed and agreed on during this meeting.
12 – 13 March 2007 – WP2 meeting in Rotterdam, Netherlands
On Monday 12 March 2007 WP2 finalised the contents of the first two Deliverables. Next the all participants discussed in depth the structure and contents of Deliverable 2.3 and 2.4. These preparatory talks were continued on Tuesday 13 March.
8 – 9 March 2007 – WP1 meeting in Vienna, Austria
During these 2 days decisions were made regarding two topics: 1) the content of Deliverable 1.2 (“Road user Model”) and 2) the questionnaire for the meta-analysis. At the end the work plan for the following months was set out.
27 February 2007 – Steering Committee meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
On Tuesday 27 February the fourth CAST Steering Committee meeting was held. During the morning we discussed intensively the dissemination activities which needed special attention because of some delays. We started the afternoon with the presentations of the work progress per WP. At the end BIVV/IBSR presented the budget changes for the Steering Committee for the contract amendment.
8 February 2007 – (limited) WP3 meeting
This was a meeting with some of the WP partners (J. Trigoso, A. Simoes) on the statistics of Road Accidents, driving models and risk models.
16-17 November 2006 – WP 2 meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia
On Thursday 16 November 2006 the WP2 Quality Plan was discussed in depth and quality standards were formulated. Next all participants agreed on the structure and the contents of the first two Deliverables. The finalisation of the work plan for the following months was set out on Friday 17 November 2006.
2-3 October 2006 – Steering Committee meeting in Lisbon, Portugal
On Monday 2 October and Tuesday 3 October the third CAST Steering Committee meeting was held in the centre of Lisbon. During the first day, the Quality Officer Divera Twisk (SWOV) clarified the required quality procedure to the other members and the Work Package Leaders proposed their specific Quality Plan. The second day started with the presentations of the work progress per WP. At the end the Steering Committee discussed the dissemination activities for the following months.
14-16 June 2006 – WP 2, 3 and Steering Committee meeting in Arcueil, France
From Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 June 2006, INRETS in Arcueil, France hosted two CAST Work Package Meetings as well as the second CAST Steering Committee meeting. The partners involved in Work Package 2 met to discuss the data collecting of evaluated campaigns in a standardized way, while the WP3 workshop was mainly devoted to further developing the structure and content outline of the campaign manual. The Steering Committee, consisting of all WP leaders, the Quality Control Officer and Mr Jean-Paul Repussard as a representative of the European Commission, discussed the project’s development during the forthcoming months.
29-30 May 2006 – WP 1 Workshop in Oslo, Norway
On Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 May 2006, the partners involved in CAST Work Package 1 met at TØI in Oslo, Norway, for an inspiring workshop on identifying key elements for influencing road users and for evaluation. During the two-day event, the results of former meta-analysis research on the effects of campaigns were discussed, together with different road user models and theoretical concepts of road user behaviour and behavioural change. In addition to this, a section of the workshop was reserved to the presentation of a number of national examples and experiences in the field of road safety campaigns. WP1 comprises partners from 9 countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Sweden.
12 April 2006 – WP 3 workshop in Arcueil, France
In February 2006 the need for a profound discussion about the structure and contents of the manual became clear. During this workshop, all WP3 partners debated about the organisation of the different chapters of the manual. All agreed to split the manual in two parts. On the one hand State of the Art of road safety and communication campaigns, and on the other hand the Guidelines to implement a road safety communication campaign. Those present determined the contents of both parts.
16 February 2006 - CAST project launched in Brussels
On Thursday, 16 February 2006, the CAST project was officially launched in Brussels with a kick-off meeting, followed by two days of workshops linked to specific work packages. Over 30 representatives from the 19 participating European research institutes involved in CAST attended to the meeting and workshops. The two-day event was also attended by Mr. Jean-Paul Repussard, principal administrator in charge of road safety at the European Commission.
